January 2024: Menlo Park, CA

Join Mongabay Founder and CEO Rhett Ayers Butler for a talk on the state of the world’s tropical forests, why they are important, and what efforts are being made to protect and restore them.

The Amazon. The Congo. Borneo. New Guinea. The world’s largest tropical forests are home to untold numbers of species, house Indigenous peoples with unique cultural traditions, and provide critical ecosystem services that help sustain us, no matter where we live. Rhett — the founder of the environmental website Mongabay and author of many articles and academic papers on tropical rainforests — will provide an update on the world’s tropical rainforests.

He will also share photos of rainforests and rainforest wildlife that he’s captured around the world.

The event will be held during the 1st or 2nd week of January 2024 at the Menlo Park City Council Chambers (701 Laurel St. Menlo Park, CA 94025).
